20 year recap... Hmmm.
4 years at Northwestern to get BSME. Spent another 3 years downtown Chicago working for Johnson Controls in construction sales.
I planned on coming home in 1995 to work with my dad at Air Flow Inc with the intent of first buying his partner out, ultimately to allow my dad to retire with me taking it over one day. He unfortunately died suddenly just before I came back to Milwaukee.
Reluctantly, I instead worked for his partner, who had health issues. In 1996 his partner got cancer and died in 1997. I began to run the company on the behalf of my father's partners wife. I didn't know a thing about running a company.
In 1999, in spite of my inexperience, I bought the company and its been clipping along fine ever since. We have 24 employees from our humble beginning at 5. Anyone in Wisconsin commercial construction probably knows who Air Flow is.
Shortly after I relocated to Milwaukee, I met my wife to be - Vicki. Unfortunately, she was relocating to Arizona shortly after we met. We dated long distance for a while until I convinced her to come home. We were married in 2000. She grew up in Milwaukee and went to Pius XI or IX or whatever.
In 2002 we adopted Alex and Lauren from Russia, which was quite an experience on its own. We lucked out finding 2 great kids.
Needless to say, the twins were a surprising addition to our family - they were born in October of 2007. I didn't think I'd be changing diapers at 37 years old, but having little babies is an experience my wife and I didn't think we'd share, so this has been a special time for us.
Looking forward to seeing you all at the reunion.
I took a lot of crap being in the band. What's worse is I did marching band freshman year at NU and took a lot of crap for it there too.
