After Nicolet, I graduated from Marquette with an English degree and then decided to accompany the love-of-my-life, Jason, to Los Angeles where he had plans to study music. LA was paradise for Jason as he learned from and performed with some of the most accomplished musicians in the industry (see Jason's bio, if he ever writes one). I, on the other hand, struggled to find meaningful work. I begged him to move back home and after he finished up school, we did just that. We settled in the North Shore and married in 1995. Once back in Wisconsin, I was able to find work in communications: first, in advertising/public relations and, eventually, as editor of Marquette University's alumni magazine. When I was editor, Jason and I had our first child, Benny (1999). I fell in love with him and quickly learned my passion for my work was eclipsed by my calling to be home with him. After two years of struggling to find some kind of balance, I left Marquette in 2001 to be a stay-at-home mom. We added Grace to our family in 2003 and Brady a year ago. I try to do some freelance writing projects between loads of laundry and wiping butts. And I'm still dreaming of breaking into the children's book market some day (any publishers out there?). By the way, Jason and I live two blocks from Nicolet and our kids love to watch the marching band practice! Life is good. I hope yours is too.
